Lead by drummer Jason Bruns this 8-piece ensemble boasts a virtuosic 3-piece horn section, a highly versatile rhythm section, and powerful lead vocals by singer Kevín Baché [bah-shay]. Their music, while rooted in the jazz tradition, is influenced by a variety of genres. They recently concluded their second japan tour and closed out the "Jazz at LACMA" 2019 season. Their last two albums charted in the Top-10 and aired on 300+ radio stations including K-JAZZ.

Natalie Patterson, an award-winning poet and teaching artist, guides participants through collective and individual exercises that explore the importance of remembrance and legacy through words. Participants can choose to bring family photos to inspire their words, and are invited to support the performance of the group-created poem at the annual Greens Festival at Virginia Avenue Park on 2/29/20.

Our Family History, a talk about archiving with Carolyne Edwards and Arianne Edmonds

Location: Santa Monica Main Library, Multipurpose Room 

Carolyne Edwards, a Santa Monica native who launched the Quinn Research Center, and Arianne Edmonds, a fifth generation Angeleno and founder of the JL Edmonds project, will share their personal journeys with family archives. Topics include the oral and written histories of African Americans in Santa Monica and how everyone can preserve their legacy. 

Fairview Branch Library presents Pajama Story Time with Officer Noell Grant

Listen to stories and learn what police officers do at this special pajama story time with Santa Monica Police Department officer Noell Grant at the Fairview Library on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 6:30 pm.  Craft to follow.  This free, 45-minute program is for families and will be held in Fairview's Community Room.
